Happy Tails! – TOBY (pka Phineas)

I cannot believe it’s been a month already!  Wanted to let you know he is doing well.  He has slipped into our home and our lives seamlessly.  We all adore him.  I thought this was a cute photo and it was taken at your ‘office’.  We now call him Toby.  He still loves to chase balls—we have a whole bag we rounded up from the backyard after our dog passed away.  I bought a year’s worth of Heartguard and Frontline Plus — so he’s well protected.

He is a good eater and keeps himself well hydrated.  Now that he’s past the vomiting and diarrhea, he makes very few if any accidents in the house.  He eats everything in sight, so we had to quickly “child-proof” the house.  I have a feeling that is part of the reason they <prior owners> got rid of him.  He’s a BIG, undisciplined puppy and very curious.  Loves to counter-surf and eats anything dropped on the floor or in his sight.  I spoke to the trainer at Petsmart and she gave me good suggestions on chew-products.  I keep him well supplied with rawhide bones and chew toys.  I figure it works for kids, distract them with appropriate toys and remove the items they should not eat or play with.  He’s strong and loves to play tug of war, which can be a problem when he grabs clothes or a blanket.  But gentle reminders and encouragement and he gets it.  I don’t think they disciplined him at all.  He’s very smart and is learning his boundaries.  We start our training in July so we are all on the “same page” with discipline and terminology.  Even without it he’s wonderful-but worth it to break the bad habits now.

He goes crazy with affection when I come home and is always at my side.  He loves to play with Katie — she taught him to jump up on the trampoline with her and he sleeps in her bed at night.  They play chase and hide & seek in the house on rainy days to exercise him.  And of course he loves to retrieve balls and toys when we throw them.  Funny guy even plays catch with himself.  He throws the toy up in the air then chases after it — including throwing it down the stairs then bringing it back up to do it again.

Thank you for helping us adopt him!

Happy Tails! – BRIDGET (pka Lexi)

A followup for you on “Lexi.”  My husband thinks she is beautiful.  The first thing she did was shower him with kisses.  He did strongly suggest that we rename her.  His suggestion was Bridget.  My husband is very Irish, so that’s her new name.

She loves her new home with a huge backyard and endless numbers of lizards to pounce on (see photo of her looking for lizards).  She loves all of us and we adore her.  My son has started training her to walk properly on the leash.

Thanks for making this family, and one dog, very happy!

Matching Gift & Grant Programs

Matching Gift
Many companies offer programs that enable you to donate money to your favorite charity.  They have Matching Gift Programs and also offer grants if you volunteer with a 501(c)3!  With the Matching Gift Program, you don’t even need to volunteer with us.  All you need to do is make a donation to K-9 Angels Rescue and whatever amount of money you donate to us, your company will match your donation and send us a donation check for the same amount, after confirming your donation with us.

Grant
To be eligible for a grant, you’ll need to put in a certain amount of volunteer hours with us (each company is different in the volunteer’s hours required).  They will also need to confirm your hours with us and before sending us a donation check.  Some companies donate as much as $1,500 several times a year!  Please check with your company to see if they offer grant programs and to understand the necessary requirements.   It’s an easy way to help us out!   Thank you!

Donation
We have donation options on the donate page of our website.
You can choose to make a one-time donation or to set a recurring monthly donation to K-9 Angels Rescue!

Happy Tails! – MONEY PENNY (pka Monet)

We love Monet!  She has been renamed Money “Monet” Penny… Penny for short!
$250 later, after our first trip to Petsmart, we’ve now had a bath, and are cuddling on the couch!

We are so excited!  Money “Monet” Penny is getting adjusted to her new home.  She loves to cuddle with my kids.  She barks at certain people who come over, but not at others, so we are still trying to figure her out!  She is great on a leash, and loves going to the backyard and chewing her bone while my kids play outside.  She is a beg hog, and has already decided the couch is her favorite spot in the house!

Happy Tails! – BEIGNET (pka Darby)

Will and I want to thank you for allowing us to adopt our little Beignet.  She is doing great!
We adopted her on Easter Sunday and it has been all smiles and tail wagging ever since.
It took a few weeks to get used to each other.  She needed some time to get acquainted with us and with the schedule for her walks.  Beignet was in desperate need of grooming (see before and after photos attached) but she loves her new “summer look.”   We are greeted every morning when we wake up and every evening when we get home with a ball of excitement and whimpers of joy.  Will has even started baking her homemade dog treats. I think she’s a little spoiled…

Thanks again for saving our little one!
